CARAMEL MACCHIATO - FALL 2013 - DIRECTING PROJECT
In the fall semester of 2013 I was enrolled in Directing I. This gave me my first exposure to the field of directing, an opportunity which I soon took advantage of as I discovered how much it appealed to me. As part of the class, the midterm exam, we were expected to cast and direct a short scene of our choosing and, if desired, we were given permission to write the scene. I opted to write the scene. What eventually came from my time in front of the keyboard was a short scene I named Caramel Macchiato. I cast three students and held four out-of-class rehearsals. The performance went very well overall, and I received an A on the project. I have since been encouraged to submit Caramel Macchiato as an entry into the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) held each year.
Eurydice - Fall 2013 - Directing Final
At the end of the Fall 2013 semester the final for my Directing I class was a collaborative production of Eurydice between the directing and lightning design classes. Each student in the directing class was assigned a scene from the play and instructed to work together with an assigned lighting design student to light the final product. I was assigned a scene in which the main character, Eurydice, is indirectly killed by a character dubbed, "The Strange Interesting Man". I designed the set, pulled the props, and worked with the lighting designer to achieve the vision I had for the scene. The actors performed wonderfully, and I received an A on the project. The following are some photos taken during the final performance of my scene.
